Our Work

Streetlight Infrastructure Project

Project Overview

We delivered essential transportation infrastructure upgrades for a new mixed-use development in North Vancouver. Scope included PVC duct banks, precast transportation bases, and utility junction boxes to support future street lighting, traffic signals, and telecom infrastructure. Despite a tight timeline and complex site conditions, Berto completed the work ahead of schedule with zero incidents.

CHALLENGES

The urban setting posed logistical and geotechnical challenges. High trade density on-site made sequencing difficult, while excavation through native mountain ground with large rocks and hardpan significantly slowed trenching. A tightly phased development schedule left little room for delays, increasing pressure to perform with precision.

KEY ACTIONS

To navigate these conditions, Berto led proactive trade coordination with daily huddles, enabling real-time adjustments and minimizing cross-trade interference. The team implemented staggered shifts to access crowded zones during off-peak hours. Specialized excavation using hydrovac and mechanical trenching preserved utility integrity. A skilled crew, especially our hydrovac technician, ensured safe, accurate installs in demanding terrain.

RESULT

The project was completed 2 days ahead of schedule with no injuries, rework, or utility strikes. The team’s adaptive scheduling, field expertise, and collaborative approach earned praise from the prime contractor and City of North Vancouver. This project has since positioned Berto for future municipal contracts in the region.
