1. In many instances, the congestion of existing services and the use of hydrovac was required as the team was not able to dig within excavation requirements. The team harnessed its in-field expertise to quickly alter around the existing services without compromising timelines.
2. Work was very challenging given the difficult ground conditions, among other, peat in the ground. The difficult conditions called for a Schedule 40 PVC Conduit, as well as a special wrap with geotextile fabric and lightweight fill which consisted of pumice.
3. The excavation was located alongside a very busy pathway directly beside the Skytrain exit. This required additional safety precautions including limits of approach training.
