The Foreman is responsible for running job sites and coordinating all on-site crews and subcontractors to safely, efficiently & productively complete projects according to schedule and specifications.
Major Duties Performed:
- Supervises job sites and crew activity, following direction from the Project Manager
- Manages and coordinates the activity of labourers, truck drivers, TCPs, Hydro Vac trucks and other subcontractors to meet established work schedules
- Reads and interprets blueprints to determine project specifications and construct formwork in accordance with drawings and specifications
- Oversees placement of manholes and conduit as per drawings and specs
- Ensures all work complies with applicable safety codes, regulations and company procedures
- Resolves site-related problems promptly and makes recommendations to improve worksite efficiency and productivity
- Maintains accurate project records, including approving timesheets for all crew members and signing off on subcontractor work
- Reports project status, issues and resource needs to the Project Manager on a regular basis
Health & Safety Duties:
- Ensures all crew members follow established safety procedures and safe work practices at all times
- Ensures job sites are organized, kept tidy and free of unnecessary hazards
- Monitors work activities to ensure compliance with safety codes, regulations and company policies
- Identifies unsafe conditions or behaviours and takes immediate corrective action, escalating issues to the Project Manager as required
- Promotes a safety-first culture on site through ongoing communication with crews and subcontractors
Job Requirements:
- 2–5 years of experience in Telecommunication/Hydro Infrastructure, including a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role
- Ability to read blueprints and construct concrete forms, place manholes and install conduit as per drawings and specifications
- Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to coordinate multiple crews and subcontractors
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle to travel to and from the work yard and various job sites
Work Environment:
- Full-time, permanent position
- Work is performed at various job sites in and around the Greater Vancouver and Lower Mainland área
- Work is primarily outdoors and may involve exposure to varying weather conditions and active construction environments
Organizational Scope:
- Reports directly to the Project Manager
- Provides day-to-day supervision and direction to labourers, truck drivers, TCPs, Hydro Vac operators and other subcontractors required to complete the work
