Pipeline Project

Berto Contractors Red Line Design Feature

Project Overview:

The Pipeline Project involved consolidating designs from Rogers, Telus, and BC Hydro to ascertain which sections were to be accommodated within joint trench and which required an independent trench. Additionally, providing test hole locations to address third-party utility crossings over Metro Vancouver water mains. Furthermore, an additional design was required to delineate the 1.5m trench width concerning Metro Vancouver mains and the requisite support structures essential for protecting the water mains during construction.

Challenges:

A pivotal challenge revolved around accommodating two Metro Vancouver utility mains traversing north and south along Pipeline Road, necessitating trench alignment adjustments to ensure compliance with authority by laws & clearances.

Solution:

To tackle this challenge, CAD and GIS software were adeptly utilized to amalgamate three distinct basemaps and propose necessary modifications as required.

Results:

The collaborative efforts yielded tangible outcomes, notably enabling Metro Vancouver authority and the engineer to access crucial information concerning test hole locations and the horizontal distance of the trench from the water mains. Additionally, the engineer was able to provide a stamped design specifying the size and quantity of support beams required for construction, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and project integrity.
