Primary Focus
PMA is responsible for assisting the Project Manager/Senior Estimator in various administrative tasks related to project estimation, overall organization and completion for civil construction.
Major Areas of Responsibility
Project Administration:
•Organize and maintain project documents, databases and files
•Manage project budgets and track spending
•Communicate plans, actions, and issues with key stakeholders
•Support the Project Manager with preparing estimates, writing quotes
•Support the Project Manager with performing quantity takeoffs, clarifying specific information
•Responsible for preparing material take-offs and procurement
•Support the Project Manager with other administrative functions and processes
Project Coordination:
•Assist with project planning, tracking progress and reporting status updates
•Assist in scheduling subcontractors
•Completing change order requests/EWOs
•Attend weekly scheduling meetings
•Completing project as-builds, deficiency reports and close out packages
•Inputting and updating project estimations into QuickBooks
There will be occasions where the PMA will be asked to complete duties outside of what has been outlined in this job description, as required, based on the needs of the company.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•Completion of Project or Construction Management certificate or diploma
•Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
•Knowledge of Bluebeam an asset
•Familiarity with Buildertrend (Project Management Software) an asset
•Strong organizational and time management skills
•Excellent knowledge of construction operations and equipment
•Strong team player
•Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills
•Strong problem-solving skills
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
•Ability to handle confidential material with discretion
Physical Demands:
•The PMA is required to sit/view a computer monitor for prolonged periods of time
Work Environment:
•The work environment is relatively quiet, with other employees passing through the work space on a regular basis
•The role will be required to attend work sites from time to time, which would require the use of steel toed boots and PPE
•When on site, regularly works near moving mobile equipment in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat & humidity, & exposure to dust & asphalt
•Noise level may occasionally be loud
•Hazards associated with the construction industry including overhead & underground hazards
•Needs to be aware of other trades personnel working in the same jobsite
Reporting Structure:
•The PMA reports directly to the Project Manager /Senior Estimator and works closely with the Superintendent
